Our History
In 1939, the Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church felt a need for a mission in the Auburndale community, therefore held a tent revival in the area. Shortly after a small group began meeting in a home on Bruce Avenue however, it was apparent that this home was quickly being out grown. In July of 1940, this home mission was granted permission to begin meeting in the Auburndale Elementary School. Three years later in 1943, the mission with the help of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church purchased the ground on which the church now stands. God continued to bless the Auburndale mission and in late 1951, the mission was officially chartered and became The Auburndale Baptist Church.
The church saw tremendous growth in the 1950's and 1960's as the church built the 3 story educational building, fellowship hall, and sanctuary to accommodate this rapidly growing church. In the last 30 years a changing community and world has led to changes at Auburndale Baptist, leaving a smaller but faithful generation to represent the heritage and foundation of the church as it entered the 21st century.
In 2003, the church called Brian Croft as the 13th pastor of Auburndale Baptist Church. As a result of this renewed commitment to the centrality of the Word of God by this new staff, the church has seen the encouraging steady growth of a new generation.
As a congregation we are encouraged by each other's commitment to God's Word and our godly dedication to each other. We look forward to building on God's faithfulness, so that Auburndale Baptist Church may continue to glorify Christ until His return.
